The Saratoga County Alliance to End Homeless seeks to be a resource for our partner agencies as well as any other entities in the county working towards ending homeless in Saratoga County.

CARES of NY Reports & Data on Homelessness

CARES of NY is a nonprofit organization that empowers communities to end homelessness through community planning, program data, supportive housing, and awareness-building. CARES seeks to collaborate with and support our communities towards the creation of systems that end and prevent homelessness. CARES provides statistical reports on homelessness across New York State as well as within the Saratoga-north Country Continuum of Care.

The Coordinated Entry System

The Coordinated Entry System is an approach to coordination and management of housing that allows homeless service agencies to directly connect people to interventions that will rapidly end their homelessness.

Coordinated Entry:

1) Prioritizes persons who are homeless based on vulnerability, to get access to available housing opportunities

2) Makes it less cumbersome on persons who are homeless to apply for available supportive housing programs.

Supportive Housing Resources

Programs Permanent Supportive Housing is the most cost effective and affordable solution to ending homelessness. If your agency is seeking to create a supportive housing project, here are some resources to get you started.

Homeless Housing and Assistance Corporation (HHAC)

The New York State Homeless Housing and Assistance Corporation (HHAC) is a public benefit corporation formed in 1990 for the purposes of administering the Homeless Housing and Assistance Program. HHAC is a subsidiary corporation of the NYS Housing Finance Agency (HFA), and is governed by a Board of Directors.

Homes and Community Renewal (HRC) Community Development Block Grant

administers the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program for the State of New York. The NYS CDBG program provides financial assistance to eligible cities, towns, and villages with populations under 50,000 and counties with an area population under 200,000, in order to develop viable communities by providing decent, affordable housing, and suitable living environments, as well as expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income.

Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI)

New York State is issuing this RFP, for the development and operation of at least 1,200 new units of Supportive Housing for persons identified as homeless with special needs, conditions or other life challenges. This RFP seeks to award the fifth year’s commitment of New York State’s plan to develop 6,000 units over five years. NYS will award service and operating funding for units of housing developed to support the needs of individuals residing in the units.

 

Grants and Foundations that support nonprofit agencies in Saratoga County.

Business for Good is a philanthropic foundation that invests in people to build better business, stronger communities, and a more equitable world. They treat community emergencies like food insecurity, housing instability, and education inequity with targeted donations.

 

For each purchase of a Hannaford Helps Community Bag, or a Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger Bag, Hannaford donates $1 to a local nonprofit organization of the purchaser’s choice or to the nonprofit that each store's leadership has selected for the month.

 

Saratoga Casino and Hotel Foundation supports nonprofit organizations who carry out services and activities that benefit the residents of Saratoga County Activities that address problem gambling, support youth, senior citizens, recreation, arts and community benefit are preferred.

 

Target shoppers how are Target Circle members cast votes for a selection of local non-profits. As each voting period wraps, Target awards grants to the nonprofits based on the percentage of votes they received.

The Charles R. Wood Foundation provides assistance to areas of special need in the Lake George Region and surrounding areas to nonprofit organizations with an emphasis on programs for children, healthcare, and the arts.

 

SCCCMH works to improve services by awarding grants to local non-profit organizations. SCCCMH accepts grant request up to $1000 for the organization’s actives that are within the scope of SCCCMH’s Mission excluding general operational or salary costs.
